Job Summary for Janitor:
Performs custodial maintenance duties in plant and office areas on a daily basis, including discarding trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Janitor:
- Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
- Maintain inventory on all cleaning supplies.
- Service, clean, and keep supplies full in all restrooms.
- Clean all plant and office areas.
Non-essential Duties for Janitor:
- Empty waste bins from offices and empty trash cans in the plant.
- Periodically clean light fixtures and ventilation ducts.
- Keep front entrance free of paper, trash and snow.
- Empty and dispose of recycled material.
- Clean and polish drinking fountains.
- Notify supervisor concerning the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Janitor:
- Knowledge of proper use of basic cleaning chemicals.
- Able to follow directions and perform repetitive tasks.
Experience and Education for Janitor:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1 - 2 years custodial experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements for Janitor:
- Machine shop work environment; dust, grease and metal shavings common.
- Requires the use of the following personal protective equipment when on the shop floor:
- Safety glasses, steel toed shoes/boots.
- Must be able to:
- Work safely in a fast paced environment
- Work overtime, including weekends as requested.
