Stranding Machine Operator

Job description

Job Title

Operates an upright stranding machine or Bartell machine to strand wire onto a spool. Supervises the general quality of the wire/cable. Maintains and cleans the machines and area as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Measures wire/cable for size using micrometers.
  • Clears area of other wire materials. Completes job cards and wire log sheets.
  • Sets up the machines by threading wire through machine guides. Secures materials according to job being run.
  • Respools wire/cable using respooling machines.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrates ability to self-motivate and to problem solve in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must have good documentation practice.
  • A proven understanding of part workmanship.
  • Ability to read a micrometer and basic computer skills.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Working Conditions:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasional exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually high, safety equipment is mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Candidate must be able to perform the physical responsibilities of the job utilizing arms, hands, and fingers to perform complex functions of manufacturing parts and performing other duties of the job; e.g., standing, sitting, walking throughout the facility and stairs, bending, squatting, and kneeling, etc.
  • Ability to lift items weighing 10-15 lbs.
Pay:

$17.00-$17.00/hour
