Senior HVAC Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior HVAC Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial and residential HVAC systems while providing technical leadership and mentoring junior technicians. This role requires strong diagnostic abilities, exceptional customer service, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain residential and commercial HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.
  • Install new HVAC systems, ductwork, thermostats, and indoor air quality equipment according to manufacturer specifications and local codes.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, boilers, rooftop units (RTUs), chillers, and ventilation systems.
  • Lead complex service calls and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
  • Inspect equipment to identify operational issues and recommend repair or replacement solutions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Commission and test newly installed HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and work orders using mobile or computerized service software.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and company safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair options, maintenance recommendations, and energy-efficient upgrades.
  • Collaborate with project managers, dispatchers, and field supervisors to complete projects on schedule.
  • Assist with inventory management by identifying parts and material requirements.
  • Participate in emergency service calls and rotating on-call schedules as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minium of 5 years of HVAC installation and service experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC electrical systems, refrigeration cycles, controls, and mechanical components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Experience servicing:
    • Air conditioners
    • Heat pumps
    • Gas and electric furnaces
    • Boilers
    • Rooftop units (RTUs)
    • Mini-split systems
    • Commercial HVAC equipment
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
