Position Summary
Cam-Ful Industries is seeking a motivated HVAC Service Apprentice to assist our Service/Start-Up Coordinator and experienced Service Technicians with the installation, start-up, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of commercial HVAC equipment.
This position is ideal for someone with approximately one year of commercial HVAC experience who understands HVAC fundamentals and wants to build a long-term career in commercial service.
Responsibilities
- Assist Service Technicians with troubleshooting commercial HVAC systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, exhaust fans, and related equipment.
- Learn to diagnose electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical issues.
- Use diagnostic tools including multimeters, clamp meters, and temperature probes.
- Assist with equipment start-ups and system commissioning.
- Read wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
- Perform filter changes, belt replacements, coil cleaning, and other preventative maintenance tasks.
- Document service work using company software.
- Maintain a clean and organized service vehicle and work area.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures.
- Provide professional customer service at all job sites.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of commercial HVAC experience.
- Basic understanding of the refrigeration cycle.
- Basic understanding of HVAC electrical systems.
- Ability to identify major HVAC components including:
- Compressors
- Condensers
- Evaporators
- Metering devices
- Contactors
- Capacitors
- Fan motors
- Ability to use a multimeter to measure:
- Voltage
- Resistance (Ohms)
- Continuity
- Amperage (Clamp Meter)
- Basic understanding of thermostat wiring:
- R
- C
- Y
- G
- W
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to work on ladders, rooftops, and lifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA Universal Certification (preferred but not required).
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- HVAC trade school certificate or diploma.
- Experience servicing:
- RTUs (Rooftop Units)
- Split Systems
- Heat Pumps
- Air Handlers
- Mini Splits
- Familiarity with commercial building HVAC systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.

Physical Requirements
- Lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
