Atlas Air Comfort is hiring experienced HVAC and heat pump installers in Michigan for residential heat pump installation work.

We are looking for licensed mechanical contractors, HVAC technicians, or subcontractor crews who can install residential air-source heat pumps, ductless mini-splits, air handlers, ductwork, refrigerant lines, thermostats, and related HVAC equipment.

This role is for installers who can complete clean, code-compliant heat pump installations and support projects that may qualify under Michigan energy-efficiency and electrification rebate programs, including MiHER, HEAR, and HOMES.

Michigan's LARA says licensed mechanical contractors can perform installations, alterations, servicing, and secure permits. Mechanical permit applications must be submitted to the appropriate enforcing agency before work begins.

Responsibilities

Install residential air-source heat pump systems, ducted and ductless.

Install outdoor condensers, indoor air handlers, mini-splits, refrigerant lines, drain lines, thermostats, and related HVAC components.

Perform system startup, testing, charging, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Follow Michigan mechanical code, local permitting rules, manufacturer requirements, and safety standards.

Pull or support mechanical/HVAC permits where required.

Coordinate with electricians when panel upgrades, wiring, or dedicated circuits are required.

Collect job photos, equipment information, model numbers, serial numbers, AHRI/ENERGY STAR details, invoices, and installation documents.

Support MiHER / HEAR / HOMES rebate paperwork, quality-control requirements, and post-install documentation.

Communicate professionally with homeowners and the office team.

Maintain clean job sites and complete installations on schedule.

Requirements

Minimum 3+ years of residential HVAC or heat pump installation experience.

Experience installing air-source heat pumps and/or ductless mini-splits.

EPA Section 608 Certification required for refrigerant work.

Michigan Mechanical Contractor License preferred / strong plus.

Relevant Michigan mechanical classifications such as HVAC Equipment, Ductwork, Refrigeration, or Limited/Unlimited Heating Service are preferred.

Ability to work legally under proper Michigan mechanical licensing and permitting requirements.

Ability to pull or support mechanical permits where required.

Experience with Michigan Home Energy Rebates, MiHER, HEAR, HOMES, utility rebates, or energy-efficiency programs is a strong plus.

Ability to complete rebate documentation accurately.

Own tools and reliable transportation.

Valid driver's license.

General liability insurance and workers' compensation preferred for subcontractors.

Subcontractor crews are welcome to apply.

Preferred Experience

MiHER Registered Contractor experience.

Michigan rebate-program documentation.

BPI certification or home energy assessment experience.

Manual J / load calculation experience.

ENERGY STAR heat pump installations.

Duct sealing, insulation, air sealing, or home-performance work.

Electrical coordination for heat pump installations.

Photo documentation and quality-assurance checklists.

Experience working with income-qualified rebate programs.

Compensation

$30-$50 per hour depending on experience, Michigan mechanical licensing, EPA Section 608 Certification, ability to complete heat pump installations independently, and rebate-program experience.

Subcontractor crews may be paid per completed installation.
