Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed HVAC Technician to join our residential construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for layout, fabrications, installation, and commissioning of entire heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for new construction homes, additions, and full-scale renovations. This position requires a strong focus on proper duct design, equipment sizing accuracy, structural compliance, and strict adherence to environmental regulations regarding refrigerant handling.

Key Responsibilities
- System Layout & Rough-In: Read architectural blueprints and Manual J/S/D load calculations to layout, hang, and seal supply/return ductwork (flex, trunk-and-branch, or sheet metal) during the framing stage.
- Equipment Installation: Install residential split systems, heat pumps, furnaces, mini-splits, air handlers, and ventilation systems (ERVs/HRVs).
- Refrigerant Line & Component Piping: Run, braze, and pressure-test copper line sets. Vacuum down systems and perform custom refrigerant charging in accordance with manufacturer specifications and EPA guidelines.
- Electrical & Control Wiring: Low-voltage control wiring for thermostats, zone dampers, smart home integrations, and high-voltage connections to disconnect boxes.
- Gas & Venting Layout: Properly route and connect gas lines to furnaces/appliances and run code-compliant flue and combustion intake venting.
- Commissioning & Testing: Perform system start-ups, check airflows, static pressure, and temperature splits to ensure peak performance prior to final municipal inspections.
- Apprentice Supervision: Act as an on-site mentor to apprentices, ensuring safety protocols, accurate measurements, and quality workmanship.
Qualifications & Skills
- Licensure: Active Journeyman HVAC License (or equivalent state/local mechanical license) in good standing.
- Certifications: Mandatory EPA Section 608 Universal or Type II Certification. NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification is a strong plus.
- Experience: 3-5 years of hands-on experience focused specifically on residential HVAC installation within a new construction environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of airflow dynamics, duct geometry, refrigeration cycles, and local mechanical and fuel gas codes.
- Tools: Must have a full set of personal hand tools, sheet metal tools, and trade-specific diagnostic meters (e.g., multimeters, digital gauges, manometers).
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined, unconditioned spaces (attics, crawlspaces) and withstand outdoor elements.
- Transportation: Valid driver's license and clean driving record to travel between active project sites.
