Schedule: Friday - Sunday 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM
We are seeking an experienced Weekend Shift Welder for a leading manufacturing company in Georgetown. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who enjoy a three-day workweek while having four weekdays off. The ideal candidate will have sheet metal welding experience, be able to read blueprints, and take pride in producing high-quality work in a safe manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and operate gas and electric welding equipment used in the fabrication of metal products.
- Weld sheet metal using various welding positions, including flat, vertical, and overhead.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production schedules.
- Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, sanding, and fitting components.
- Operate cutting torches to trim materials and dismantle assemblies as needed.
- Repair or rebuild worn or defective metal surfaces.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist other production departments as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous production welding experience with sheet metal is preferred.
- Must be able to pass a hands-on welding test.
- Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, or gauges.
- Basic math and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work overtime or additional hours if production requires.
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and repetitive arm and wrist movements.
- Occasional pushing and pulling of material carts.
- Ability to safely handle long metal materials.
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including eye protection and other welding safety gear.
- Ability to work safely around welding equipment, sparks, and hot materials.
