Job Summary
The HVAC Teardown Technician I is responsible for the safe and efficient disassembly, recovery, and reclamation of HVAC systems and components. This role supports environmental sustainability by properly handling, sorting, recycling, and disposing of HVAC materials while adhering to established safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing or construction, is mechanically inclined, and can safely use hand and power tools in a production environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Safely disassemble HVAC units and recover reusable components according to established procedures.
- Handle, sort, and process materials throughout the reclamation and recycling process.
- Inspect equipment during the recovery process and report any operational issues or maintenance needs.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and metal cutting equipment safely and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with material handling and movement of HVAC components as needed.
- Cross-train and provide support in other production areas based on workload and business needs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Previous manufacturing, construction, mechanical, or industrial experience required.
- Basic knowledge of workplace safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigerants, and environmental handling practices preferred.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and metal cutting equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to identify, sort, and handle various materials accurately.
- Positive attitude with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in environments with dust, oil, and other industrial conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move moderate to heavy materials throughout the workday.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
