Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Float Nurse position is located in Alexandria, Louisiana. The role involves providing patient care in a mixed cardiac and medical ICU setting, with a focus on complex cases such as acute respiratory failure, myocardial infarctions, and patients on ventilators. The position offers a flexible shift schedule centered around days, with the potential for guaranteed hours.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 7:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing; Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Louisiana or a compact license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association; Minimum 0 years of clinical nursing experience since licensure
- Preferred Qualifications: 1 year of experience in a critical care setting preferred; Experience with intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impellas, post-operative cardiovascular surgeries, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) is advantageous
- Responsibilities include assessing patients, administering medications and treatments, documenting care, and providing patient education in accordance with clinical protocols. The nurse will work independently in a high-acuity environment, managing complex and diverse patient needs.
- Additional Information: The role requires adherence to hospital dress code in teal or Caribbean blue; no floating to other locations is expected; the patient caregiver ratio is 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for intermediate care unit patients; every other weekend work is required; no on-call duties are specified.
