Saint Joseph Health System Saint Joseph Medical Group is seeking an experienced Locum NP or PA to join their Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Mishawaka, Indiana. This is an OR-focused role working directly alongside attending Cardiothoracic Surgeons, ideal for a provider with strong first-assist skills and vein harvesting experience.
This position is not open to new graduates the client is specifically seeking an experienced NP or PA with strong cardiothoracic surgery knowledge across office, bedside, and OR settings.

Patient Volume
Responsibilities

First-assist in surgery, including vein/artery harvesting using the Maquet system
- p :pt-0 &>p :mb-2 &>p :my-0">
Rounding on hospital patients followed by OR time
- p :pt-0 &>p :mb-2 &>p :my-0">
Pre-op physical exams, suture and staple removal, chest tube and pacing wire removal
- p :pt-0 &>p :mb-2 &>p :my-0">
Prescription writing, ordering tests, wound care, and debridement
- p :pt-0 &>p :mb-2 &>p :my-0">
Cardiac rehab and nutritional care coordination
- p :pt-0 &>p :mb-2 &>p :my-0">
Multidisciplinary communication with surgeons, nursing, respiratory, and rehab staff

Emergency response using CPR and ACLS protocols

Complete documentation including progress notes and care plans
Requirements

License: Active Indiana license required at time of submission

Certification: NCCPA required for PAs; AANP required for NPs

Experience: Required experience in Maquet vein harvesting

NP Additional Requirement: Must be able to perform first assist
