Job Description:

We are looking for a Quality Engineer who is excited about space and technology applications to join the L3Harris Imaging Division in Wilmington, MA. This Quality Engineer will support the new product implementation of space-based imaging systems. As the program Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for the program quality plan, including the development and implementation of standards, methods, and procedures for inspecting, testing, and ensuring the accuracy of company products in compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

Performs analysis on reported nonconformities and discrepancies, further investigates the causes of discrepancies and nonconformities to develop dispositions, and recommends corrective action plans. Leads Material Review Board and Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) activities. Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met.

Our business built telescopes that took the first close-up pictures of Pluto in support of NASA's New Horizons program ( ) and created the first laser communication device outside the Earth-Moon system (Deep Space Optical Communications (DSOC) - NASA).

Essential Functions:

  • Provide quality engineering support for the design, assembly and integration of a variety of opto-mechanical and electrical assemblies.
  • Write program quality plans including inspection planning and program compliance plans.
  • Hands on program quality leader with responsibility for resolving technical challenges, ensuring successful tactical execution.
  • Work closely with the program teams and the functional organizations in a Space Flight environment to ensure that all phases of the customer life cycle, meet the requirements for mission success.
  • Facilitate and present formal MRB / RCCA packages to internal and external customers as well as senior leadership.
  • Perform design reviews and facilitate design and quality concurrent Engineering.
  • Verify subcontractor inspection or technical document preparation procedures to verify compliance with contract requirements.
  • Lead and participate in APQP activities including PFMEA's on programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. xibtplm Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Material Review Board and Review of Mechanical drawings
  • Ability to obtain security clearance
