Position DetailsPosition: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Department: Pulmonary
Schedule: PRN Days
Hours: 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM (varies)
Location: Mercy Hospital Springfield
As a Registered Respiratory Therapist, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care across a variety of patient populations while serving as a trusted clinical resource for physicians, nurses, and fellow caregivers.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver direct respiratory care in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols.
- Assess patients and develop appropriate respiratory treatment plans.
- Monitor therapy effectiveness and collaborate with physicians to optimize outcomes.
- Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans and respiratory care needs.
- Participate in physician rounds and interdisciplinary care planning.
- Document patient care accurately and maintain current care plans.
- Serve as a resource, mentor, preceptor, and clinical instructor as assigned.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and departmental excellence projects.
- Graduate of a CoARC-approved Respiratory Care Program
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License meeting state requirements
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- For therapists working in the Emergency Department: PALS certification required
- ACLS Certification
- Critical care experience
- Push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs.
- Pinch up to 10 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Ability to work with a variety of respiratory care devices and equipment
