Job description

Supervisor Chemistry Programs

Provide a leadership role in the supervision of operational chemistry programs. Provide coaching and mentoring for all operational activities. Maintain Chemistry programs including all performance and regulatory aspects of the program.

Primary Duties and Accountabilities:

  • Coach and mentor the Chemists who are responsible for various Clean Energy Center (CEC) programs (e.g. Laboratory Instrumentation Quality Assurance (QA) / Quality Control (QC), Radiological Effluent and Environmental Programs, Raw Water Chemistry, Boiling Water or Pressurized Water Chemistry).
  • Provide technical challenge and guidance for program Chemists in resolving CEC chemistry issues or decisions.
  • Lead and provide support for Chemistry related projects.
  • Participate and support the Chemistry Technician Training Program and ensure technical education for Chemistry program Chemists.
  • Lead and provide an interface role with other departments and in schedule reviews and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in Emergency Preparedness (EP) rotation. Subject to call out as required in support of CEC requirements.
  • Advocate for CEC support of chemistry equipment to provide good material condition.
  • Represent Chemistry Manager at CEC leadership meetings.
  • Perform other job assignments and duties as directed by management or pursuant to company policy, including but not limited to emergency response, departmental coverage, call outs, and support of outage activities in positions outside the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED with 9 years overall experience which includes 3 years related experience OR
  • Associate's degree with 7 years overall experience which includes 3 years related experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years overall experience which includes 3 years related experience AND
  • Must meet additional requirements as outlined in ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014 (4.4.5) Standard, "Selection, Qualification, and Training of Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants"
  • Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering with 5 years of chemistry experience in an operating nuclear power plant
  • Supervisory experience
  • Radiochemistry Supervisor ANSI qualifications (Radiochemistry Training and 2 years Gamma Spectroscopy)
  • Note, dependent on current staffing in other chemistry leadership roles, this may be a minimum requirement
