Payroll Manager

  • Collect, review, and verify employee timesheets from field crews and office staff
  • Cross-check timesheets against GPS data to ensure accurate job site reporting and hours worked
  • Code employee time by job, cost code, and Workers' Compensation classifications
  • Assign and manage payroll pay codes, including regular, overtime, and travel pay
  • Process payroll accurately in Sage Software while ensuring proper job costing allocation
  • Maintain payroll records for multiple crews and job sites
  • Calculate, file, and remit federal, state, and local payroll taxes
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax filings
  • Administer employee benefit programs including health insurance, 401(k), and company savings programs
  • Manage company-issued phones for field employees, including setup, tracking, and troubleshooting
  • Assist with certified payroll reporting for prevailing wage or Davis-Bacon projects when required
  • Maintain accurate payroll, tax, and benefits documentation to support audits and compliance

When responsibility calls, you're ready to lead. These are the qualifications that matter:

  • Experience in construction payroll or similar industry with job costing
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing, including multi-rate and multi-job environments
  • Proficiency in Sage Software (Sage 100 Contractor, Sage 300, or similar preferred)
  • Solid Excel skills for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Understanding of Workers' Compensation codes and labor classifications
  • Familiarity with GPS/time tracking systems used in field operations
  • Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance
