Human Resources Assistant (Staffing Operations/Liaison)

The Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO) serves as the primary authority for human capital management at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). OCHCO leads department-wide human capital strategy and operations to support a mission-ready workforce through the delivery of integrated services across the full employee lifecycle. This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer (OCHCO), Office of Human Capital Services (HCS). HCS provides essential workforce support and operational HR solutions through the following Department-wide functions: Strategic and Operational Classification, Recruitment, and Staffing services; Payroll, Benefits, and Retirement services; Career/Life balance programs such as Employee Health & Wellness and Reasonable Accommodations; and Personnel Security Services. Pathways Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. As a Human Resources Assistant (Staffing Operations/Liaison), you will:

  • Manage complex or high-volume staffing actions involving multiple organizations or hiring authorities.
  • Perform detailed quality reviews of SSP staffing products for compliance with agency requirements.
  • Resolve routine coordination issues independently and recommends corrective actions.
  • Assist senior specialists and supervisors in monitoring SSP performance trends and metrics.
  • Serve as a technical resource for lower-graded HR assistants.
