Position Summary

The Rheumatologist will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders, including:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Lupus
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Psoriatic arthritis
  • Gout
  • Vasculitis
  • Osteoporosis
  • Connective tissue diseases
  • Other complex rheumatologic conditions

The physician will develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans while working closely with primary care physicians, specialty providers, rehabilitation professionals, and nursing staff to provide comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with rheumatologic and autoimmune disorders
  • Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
  • Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based medicine
  • Prescribe and manage DMARDs, biologic therapies, corticosteroids, and other immunomodulatory medications
  • Perform office-based procedures, including joint aspirations and injections
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment options, and long-term care plans
  • Collaborate with referring providers and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical collaboration
Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
  • Completion of an accredited Rheumatology fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology
  • Eligible for Vermont medical licensure
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous outpatient rheumatology experience
  • Experience performing musculoskeletal ultrasound
  • Proficiency with joint aspirations and injections
  • Experience managing osteoporosis and complex autoimmune diseases
  • Strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and quality improvement
