Position Summary
The Rheumatologist will provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders, including:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Lupus
- Osteoarthritis
- Psoriatic arthritis
- Gout
- Vasculitis
- Osteoporosis
- Connective tissue diseases
- Other complex rheumatologic conditions
The physician will develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans while working closely with primary care physicians, specialty providers, rehabilitation professionals, and nursing staff to provide comprehensive patient care.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with rheumatologic and autoimmune disorders
- Perform comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations
- Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
- Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based medicine
- Prescribe and manage DMARDs, biologic therapies, corticosteroids, and other immunomodulatory medications
- Perform office-based procedures, including joint aspirations and injections
- Educate patients and families on disease management, treatment options, and long-term care plans
- Collaborate with referring providers and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical collaboration
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency
- Completion of an accredited Rheumatology fellowship
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology
- Eligible for Vermont medical licensure
- DEA registration or ability to obtain
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous outpatient rheumatology experience
- Experience performing musculoskeletal ultrasound
- Proficiency with joint aspirations and injections
- Experience managing osteoporosis and complex autoimmune diseases
- Strong commitment to evidence-based medicine and quality improvement
