    Job Details
  • Under general supervision, specializes in the performance of computerized tomographic radiological procedures on patients.
  • May perform general diagnostic radiology examinations.
  • Explains examination procedure to patients and prepares patient for the examination.
  • Reviews clinical data on requisition and performs appropriate examination.
  • Obtains additional information about the patient medical history as necessary.
  • Prepares procedure room and regularly replenishes stock such as linen and related supplies.
  • Analyzes anatomical structure of patient, sets up equipment and performs the CT scan.
  • Manually controls the equipment to obtain the proper diagnostic information from the area of the body being studied.
  • Administers intravenous contrast media including utilization of power injectors.
  • Monitors patient for possible reactions and provides immediate care if a reaction occurs.
  • May prepare and set up sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for the procedure.
  • Assists Radiologist in performing complex sterile diagnostic procedures such as biopsies.
  • Performs all imaging procedures demonstrating principles of radiation protection including shielding and dose reduction techniques.
  • Resolves image exceptions and ensures high quality image delivery into PACS.
  • Completes all study indexing in Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Reviews and confirms clinical protocols with Radiologist before performing study.
  • Performs all documentation in medical record and radiology information system to support clinical and billing functions.

    Job Requirements
  • Must meet or exceed core customer service responsibilities and standards as outlined in HFHS Customer Service Policy.
  • Must possess personal qualities including self-direction, flexibility, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, openness to new learning experiences, and respect for diversity.
  • Must have Associates degree in Applied Science in Radiology.
  • Must have peripheral IV insertion experience or be willing to obtain training.
  • At least 1 year experience in hospital setting required.
  • Prior experience working in a fast paced environment and independently.
  • Strong people skills and good communication abilities.
  • Responsible for transporting patients to and from Emergency Department.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Must maintain required hours of continued medical education.
  • Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and have the advanced registry in Computed Tomography (CT) or be registry-eligible.
    Schedule Information
  • Shift: 6pm - 6:30am EST.
  • Every other weekend required.
  • No call required.
  • Block scheduling available as long as it includes weekends.
  • Hours per day: 12
  • Hours per week: 36
    Additional Details
  • May work in hospital with a fixed unit or in an ambulatory Mobile Unit at one of the Medical Centers.
  • Potential exposure to radiation if proper precautions are not utilized.
  • May be exposed to high-voltage equipment.
  • May be exposed to potentially contagious patients.
  • Occasionally may lift and/or move equipment and/or patients in excess of 10 lbs.
