Gastroenterology PhysicianLocation: Augusta, ME 04330Shift: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (Weeknight call: 1 week in 4 (4:30 PM 8:00 AM) Must be available for inpatient and emergency consults during off-hours Duration: Long-term contract (with preference for 1-year commitment)Job SummaryWe are seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterology Physician (ABIM) to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The role includes direct patient care, consultative services, and limited administrative responsibilities in a structured clinical environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties (Approx. 95%)• Provide full-spectrum gastroenterology care in clinic and procedural settings
• Perform and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including:
o Colonoscopy (with/without biopsy, polypectomy, ablation, and stent-related procedures)
o Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
• Conduct inpatient bedside consultations for non-ambulatory patients
• Ensure timely completion of procedures (within 30 days of consult where applicable)
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions
• Follow established medication policies (no sample medications permitted)
Administrative & Quality Duties (Approx. 5%)• Participate in Quality Improvement (QI/QM) programs and peer review activities
• Attend required staff and clinical meetings
• Complete documentation related to procedures, outcomes, and complications
• Adhere to patient safety and infection control standards
• Report safety incidents, medication errors, or adverse events within required timelines
Required Qualifications• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (ABIM)
• Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Valid DEA registration
• National Provider Identifier (NPI)
