️ Locum Tenens Orthopedic Surgeon Sports Medicine

Rush Copley Medical Center Aurora, IL (Chicago Suburbs)

Rush Copley Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center, is seeking a Sports Medicine fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon to support a vacancy within its Sports Medicine program. The hospital is located approximately 45 minutes outside downtown Chicago.

Assignment Details
  • Start Date: July / ASAP
  • Assignment Length: 6 months
  • Reason for Coverage: Vacancy in Sports Medicine program
  • Facility Type: Level II Trauma Center
  • EMR: Epic
️ Schedule & Coverage
  • Clinic: 2 days per week
    • Hours: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM (1 hour lunch)
    • Average volume: patients/day
  • OR: 2 days per week
    • Start time: 7:30 AM
    • OR days currently Mondays and Fridays, with flexibility for the right candidate
  • Surgical Volume: 8 10 cases/week, depending on case mix
Call Requirements
  • Weekend Call: 1 in 7 weekends
    • Friday 5:00 PM Monday 7:00 AM
  • Weeknight Call: Shared with 6 other orthopedic surgeons
    • Some weeks no call, some weeks one night/week
    • Call night falls on the same night as one of the physician s shifts
  • Call includes ER phone coverage and required rounding (patients must be seen within 24 hours of admission per bylaws)
Case Mix & Procedures
  • ACL / MCL / PCL reconstructions
  • Meniscus procedures
  • High volume knee and ligament cases
  • Hip arthroscopy experience required
  • Multi ligament procedure experience required
  • Traditional bread and butter Sports Medicine case mix for a fellowship trained surgeon
Support & Staffing
  • Orthopedic Surgeons on Staff: 6
  • Total Physician Providers: 11
  • APP Support: Yes
    • APPs manage post ops, serve as first assists in the OR, and share ER call coverage from home
Credentialing & Licensure
  • Credentialing Timeline: 3 months (temporary privileges available) ️
  • Licensure: Illinois license required
    • IMLC candidates accepted
Candidate Requirements
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
  • Sports Medicine fellowship trained
  • Demonstrated experience with hip arthroscopy and multi ligament knee procedures
