Key Responsibilities

Production Oversight

Supervise all daily production activities including offloading, deheading, grading, peeling, IQF freezing, and packaging

Ensure production runs efficiently and meets daily and weekly output targets (lbs processed)

Monitor workflow and adjust staffing or processes to prevent bottlenecks

Track and report production numbers, downtime, and labor hours

Ensure proper startup and shutdown of production lines

Team Leadership & Workforce Management

Supervise, train, and manage production employees and line leads

Assign daily job duties and ensure proper staffing levels

Enforce company policies, attendance, and performance expectations

Coach employees to improve productivity and efficiency

Address and resolve employee issues on the production floor

Maintain a disciplined, professional, and safe work environment

Performance & Efficiency Management

Monitor key performance metrics:

Pounds processed per shift/day

Yield percentages

Labor efficiency

Downtime and equipment performance

Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements

Reduce waste and maximize product recovery (yield)

Control overtime and labor costs

Quality Control & Food Safety

Ensure all product meets quality standards and specifications

Enforce compliance with USDA, FDA, and SQF requirements

Monitor product handling to prevent contamination or damage

Ensure proper use of chemicals (e.g., sulfite treatment) where applicable

Work closely with QA team during inspections and audits

Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

Ensure all equipment is operating properly (graders, peelers, IQF tunnel, conveyors, etc.)

Identify and report equipment issues immediately

Coordinate with maintenance team to minimize downtime

Ensure proper use and care of machinery by employees

Coordination with Inventory & Freezer Operations

Communicate daily production output to inventory/logistics team

Ensure proper labeling, lot tracking, and palletizing of finished goods

Coordinate movement of finished product into freezer storage

Prevent mislabeling or product mix-ups

Safety & Compliance

Enforce all workplace safety policies and procedures

Ensure employees use proper PPE

Maintain a safe working environment at all times

Report and document any accidents or incidents

Conduct routine safety checks on the production floor

Reporting & Communication

Provide daily reports on:

Production output

Labor hours

Downtime/issues

Communicate with management regarding production performance and challenges

Coordinate with other departments (inventory, logistics, maintenance, QA)

Problem Solving & Accountability

Quickly identify and resolve production issues

Make real-time decisions to keep production running

Take ownership of production performance and results

Ensure accountability across the production team

Qualifications

Not Required But Highly Encouraged:

Previous experience in manufacturing, food processing, or seafood operations

Leadership or supervisory experience

Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment

Strong communication and team management skills

Preferred:

Experience in seafood or shrimp processing

Knowledge of IQF systems, grading, or peeling processes

Familiarity with food safety standards (USDA, FDA, SQF)

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Ability to work in wet, cold, and physically demanding conditions

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

Comfortable working around machinery and processing equipment
