Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) Locum Tenens Opportunity Central California

We are seeking experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners for a locum tenens opportunity supporting two partnered hospitals in Central California with Level III and Level IV NICU coverage.

This assignment offers a mix of day and night shift opportunities across both campuses and is ideal for providers comfortable working independently in high-acuity neonatal environments.

Position Details
  • Specialty: Neonatology
  • Position Type: Locum Tenens
  • Start Date: August 2026
  • Assignment Length: 26 weeks
  • Coverage Needed: Approximately 18 shifts per month across both facilities
  • Multiple providers may be utilized for coverage flexibility
  • Day and night shifts available
Schedule
  • 16-hour night shifts at the Level IV NICU campus
  • 12-hour day shifts at the Level III NICU campus
  • Flexible scheduling structure with a combination of shifts available
Clinical Setting
  • Level III and Level IV NICUs
  • Neonatal patient population
  • High-acuity neonatal care environment
  • Epic EMR
Required Experience & Skills
  • Active California NP license required
  • NRP certification required
  • DEA and California Furnishing License required
  • Minimum of 2 years of neonatal experience preferred
  • At least 1 year of recent high-acuity Level III NICU experience required
  • Level IV NICU experience strongly preferred

Providers must be comfortable independently managing:

  • Micro-preemies (
  • Delivery room coverage and neonatal resuscitation
  • Intubations
  • Chest tube placement
  • Needle decompression procedures
  • Umbilical arterial and venous line placement
