    Job Details
  • Provides specific patient care duties and performs unit support activities in the operating room suite.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of procedures by anticipating needs prior and during each case (e.g., assists with dressings and/or cast application at the end of the procedure).
  • Picks cases following physician preference card.
  • Consistently fulfills commitments for additional responsibilities without requiring direction.
  • Signs count before patient leaves or room; counts towel clips, Allis, and Ednas per procedure; accountable for complete instrumental trays.
  • Reports any exceptions and updates surgeon preference card per entity specific processes.
  • Complies with all count policies and procedures.
  • Identifies problems and takes appropriate action without prompting to accomplish department objectives and improve quality of care.
  • Works additional or different shifts as requested where appropriate.
  • Responsible for one department task beyond routine responsibilities.
  • Submits written recommendations to change a process or suggestions for cost containment.
  • Participates in teaching.
    Job Requirements
  • Minimum of three years as a scrub person in a hospital setting.
  • Preferred: Approved program for Operating Room Technicians or demonstrated technical skills through on the job training.
  • Preferred: Scrub Tech Certification.
  • BLS for Healthcare providers required.
  • Minimum of high school education preferred.
    Schedule Information
  • 12-hour shifts per day.
  • 36 hours per week.
  • 12-hour weekend and 20-hour weekday on call in a 4-week period, with 30-minute response time.
  • Weekend call is in addition to regularly scheduled weekend shift.
  • Scheduled two shifts every other weekend.
  • One shift per pay period may be cancelled without pay.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Operating Room suite.
  • Responsible for managing surgeon preference cards.
  • Accountable for complete instrumental trays.
  • Complies with all count policies and procedures.
  • Participates in teaching and problem solving within the unit.
    Additional Details
  • Experience: Minimum of three years as a scrub person in a hospital setting.
  • Licensure Preferred: Approved program for Operating Room Technicians or demonstrated technical skills through on the job training.
  • Certification Preferred: Scrub Tech Certification.
  • Minimum of high school education preferred.
