Position Description -
Plumber- Journeyman
JOB SUMMARY The Plumber-Journeyman will have a strong background in both commercial and residential plumbing, demonstrating the ability to work independently and as part of a team. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems while ensuring compliance with local building codes and safety regulations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Installation and Repair:
- Perform advance plumbing repairs, maintenance and installation including but not limited to maintaining plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures, and appliances in both commercial and residential settings.
- Troubleshoot plumbing issues and provide effective solutions in a timely manner.
- Diagnose complex plumbing issues and develop effective solutions quickly.
System Maintenance:
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on plumbing systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety standards at all times.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate effectively with clients to assess their plumbing needs and provide excellent customer service.
- Explain plumbing issues and solutions clearly to clients, providing estimates as necessary.
- Provide exceptional service and maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Mentorship and Leadership:
- Assist in training and mentoring Plumbing Technicians Level 2 and apprentices.
- Provide guidance on best practices, safety protocols, and code compliance to less experienced staff.
- Foster a collaborative and learning-oriented environment among the plumbing team.
Performance Tracking and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors on project updates and concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all local and state plumbing codes and regulations.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with dispatchers, other technicians, and field supervisors to coordinate job scheduling and completion.
- Provide feedback on equipment, tools, and job processes to ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain regular communication with customers and the office regarding job status and completion.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Minimum of 5 years of plumbing experience with a Journeyman Plumber license.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, codes, and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Commitment to quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
COMMUNICATION & MEETINGS
- Daily/Weekly Reporting
- Weekly/Bi-Weekly 1 on 1 with Director of Plumbing
- Weekly huddles
- Proper management of your time, calendars and commitments
TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Service Titan
- Journeyman Certification
WORK WEEK
- A typical work week is eight (8) hour days, five (5) days per week.
- Extended hours may be required during peak periods or snow.
This role is critical to the successful growth of our plumbing services division. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to drive this initiative forward.
COMPENSATION/BONUS
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience, with a performance-based incentive plan tied to job completion and customer satisfaction.
