I hope you re doing well. I wanted to share a detailed full-time locum opportunity for a Physician Assistant within an acute care hospital setting supporting a Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine practice located in New York.
Position Overview:
• Schedule: Monday Friday
• Shift: 8:00 AM 4:00 PM (full-time coverage)
• Patient Population: Adult patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions
• Setting: Acute Care Hospital Gastroenterology/Internal Medicine
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Evaluate and manage patient conditions within the GI/Internal Medicine setting
• Provide patient and family education on preventive care, treatments, and medications
• Prescribe and monitor medications as appropriate
• Order and manage diagnostic and emergency interventions
• Collaborate with physicians and consult other specialties when needed
• Refer complex or high-priority cases to supervising/collaborating physicians
• Document all evaluations, treatments, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and quality standards
• Maintain accurate documentation for coding and billing compliance
• Participate in quality review processes and implement feedback
Team & Unit Structure:
• Provider: 1 PA
• Anesthesia: Assigned per procedure
• NP: 1
• LPN: 1
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:
• Patient Acuity: Adults with acute medical needs across a variety of conditions
Systems & Tools:
• EMR: EPIC (experience required)
• Medication Dispensing: Pixys
Requirements:
• Board Certified Physician Assistant
• Active state license
• AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Unit Policies & Expectations:
• 30-minute lunch break required
• Overtime must be pre-approved
• Call-in policy requires a 2-hour notice (notify supervisor and agency)
• No cell phone use during shifts (must be kept in locker)
• ID badge must be worn at all times
Dress Code:
• Business casual attire
• Closed-toe, closed-heel shoes required
• Hair must be clean, neat, and natural in appearance
• Facial hair must be well-groomed
• Artificial nails and nail enhancements are prohibited; natural nails must be short and well-maintained
• Jewelry must be conservative (maximum two earrings; no facial or tongue piercings)
• Makeup must be conservative
• No perfumes, colognes, or strong scents permitted
