Locum Medical Director PACE Program Opportunity North Carolina
Full-Time Day Coverage Geriatric Population Leadership Role
A healthcare organization in North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician for a locum Medical Director assignment within a PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) program. This role provides both clinical leadership and patient-facing care for a frail elderly population in a community-based care model.
Position Overview:
- Locum Medical Director assignment
- Monday Friday, daytime schedule (full-time with part-time flexibility noted)
- Leadership role under Chief Medical Officer oversight
- Administrative coordination with Executive Director
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical direction for participant care and clinical outcomes
- Oversee Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) program
- Develop and maintain medical policies, procedures, and clinical protocols
- Conduct history & physical exams for new and ongoing participants
- Develop individualized treatment plans and oversee care delivery
- Participate in intake and eligibility evaluations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team (PCPs, APPs, nursing, therapy)
- Educate patients and families on chronic disease management and care planning
- Supervise PCPs and Advanced Practice Providers
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
- Support operational and leadership goals of the program
Patient Population:
- Adults age 55+
- Frail, nursing-home eligible individuals
- Community-based participants receiving comprehensive care services
- Focus on maintaining independence and quality of life at home
Candidate Requirements:
- Active North Carolina medical license
- Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (Geriatrics preferred)
- DEA and controlled substance registration required
- Minimum 1 year experience working with frail or elderly population (no new graduates)
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience required
- Must be interested in locum tenens assignment
- No visa candidates accepted
- Current NPDB self-query within 30 days
