OB/GYN (Locum Tenens) Petersburg, VA Urgent Coverage Needed for Established Practice Near Richmond
Are you an experienced OB/GYN looking for an immediate locum tenens engagement in Virginia? Two of our partner medical centers in the Petersburg and Richmond area are seeking dedicated physicians to provide vital coverage. These roles offer a balanced mix of clinic and hospital call within a supportive environment, featuring a robust laborist program and MFM support.
The Opportunity Work within a collaborative four-physician practice that emphasizes high-quality patient care and efficient hospital operations.
Clinical Scope: Provide full-spectrum OB/GYN care. Procedures include C-sections, vaginal deliveries, suction D&C, management of ectopic pregnancies, ovarian torsion, and abnormal bleeding.
Case Mix: High-risk patients are largely managed by MFM, and unreferred hospital patients are handled by the onsite Laborist program, allowing you to focus on practice-specific patients.
Team & Support: The unit features 9 L&D beds and 20 postpartum beds, supported by OBHG hospitalists, surgical assistants, and a dedicated team of 3 4 nurses per shift.
Call Structure: 1:4 call ratio. While on call, call-backs are historically low (averaging less than one per 24-hour shift).
Schedule: Immediate need for the following dates:
Technology: Documentation is streamlined via EPIC.
Compensation & Logistics Travel Reimbursement: While local candidates are preferred, the facility is open to providing full travel support for the right provider.
Rates: Competitive daily clinic rates and 24-hour call rates (including holiday premiums at 1.5x) are provided upon inquiry.
Expedited Credentialing: Temporary privileges may be approved for candidates with a clean background and no malpractice history to meet the urgent June start dates.
Candidate Requirements To ensure a seamless transition and meet hospital bylaws, candidates must satisfy:
Board Certification: Must be Board Certified (ABOG).
Licensure: Active Virginia State Medical License, VA DEA, and CSR are required.
Clinical Volume: Must provide procedure logs demonstrating a minimum of 50 deliveries (including at least 15 C-sections) within the last 12 months.
Life Support: Active BLS is required.
Availability: Must be willing and able to cover both clinic and call shifts, including the specific dates listed.
Documentation: A current Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within the last 30 days) is required at the time of presentation.
