Cardiac Surgeon (Locum Tenens) Paducah, KY High-Acuity Surgical Role at a Premier Regional Referral Center
Are you a Board-Certified Cardiac Surgeon looking for a focused surgical role in the Mid-South? A prominent regional medical center in Paducah is seeking a dedicated surgeon to support their advanced cardiac program. This facility operates as a regional hub, offering sophisticated technologies and medical specialties across four states, including western Kentucky and southern Illinois.
The Opportunity Join a collaborative surgical environment supported by a dedicated CT surgery anesthesia team, experienced First Assists proficient in Endoscopic Saphenous Vein Harvesting, and a highly helpful ICU staff.
Clinical Scope: The role has a heavy cardiac focus, with thoracic procedures preferred but not required. Responsibilities include CABG (arterial revascularization), heart valve repair/replacement, and general thoracic procedures such as VATS decortication and pericardial windows.
Critical Care: Must be proficient in the ICU management of high-risk cases, specifically Impella insertion, removal, and bailout, as well as the medical management of critically ill adult and geriatric patients.
Procedural Support: Provide structural heart procedure support within a modern Hybrid OR and Cath Lab.
Caseload: Manage 1 2 CT surgical cases per day within a facility that sees an annual ER volume of 30,000.
Schedule: 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 AM). Seeking a provider for 7 shifts per month.
Technology: Fully integrated EPIC EMR.

Compensation & Travel 24-Hour Rate: $4,290.00 per shift (includes 2 hours of gratis patient contact).
Call-Back: $390.00 per hour after gratis hours.
Orientation: $351.00 per hour.
Travel Support: Standard travel reimbursement applies, including approximately $150/night for lodging and standard/economy rates for airfare and rental cars.
Candidate Requirements To maintain the high standards of this regional referral center, candidates must meet the following:
Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Thoracic/Cardiac Surgery.
Clinical Expertise: Mandatory experience in Impella support (Insertion/Removal/Bailout) and Structural Heart Support.
Licensure: Active Kentucky State Medical License is preferred; the facility is willing to wait for highly qualified candidates to obtain a license.
Certifications: Active BLS is required.
Background: A completely clean background is required for this position.
Documentation: A current Self-Query NPDB report (pulled within the last 30 days) is required at the time of presentation.
