Correctional Psychiatric-Mental Health Advanced Practice Nurse (PMHNP / CNS)Location: Grafton, OHShift: Day Shift (Flexible start/end times)Duration: 3 Months (May be extended)Hours: 40 hours per weekJob SummarySeeking an experienced Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) or Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) licensed in Ohio to provide on-site mental health services in a correctional facility.
The role involves providing comprehensive psychiatric care to an adult male population, including assessment, diagnosis, medication management, and treatment planning. No night, weekend, or holiday coverage is required.
An on-site interview is required.
Key Responsibilities• Provide direct psychiatric and mental health care (in-person or via telehealth when needed)
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments
• Diagnose mental health conditions and determine need for psychotropic medications
• Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications within formulary guidelines
• Order, interpret, and analyze laboratory tests
• Provide care for individuals in crisis situations
• Collaborate with medical and mental health teams for integrated care
• Document all clinical encounters and medication management in health records
• Participate in treatment planning and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Provide supervision and consultation to nursing and mental health staff
• Receive supervision from collaborating physician
• Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities
• Maintain clinical competency and professional standards
Qualifications• Master s Degree in Nursing or related field
• Active Ohio RN and APRN license
• Psychiatric-Mental Health certification (ANCC preferred)
• DEA certification (required)
• BLS/CPR certification (Healthcare provider level)
• Minimum relevant psychiatric/mental health experience
• Strong documentation and communication skills
