Free-Standing Cancer Center 6-Month Initial Term with Extension Full Travel Reimbursement

Are you a Board-Certified Hematologist/Oncologist seeking a premium locum opportunity in a highly desirable Upstate South Carolina location? We are seeking a dedicated physician to provide critical clinical continuity following a loss of provider. Operating out of a state-of-the-art, free-standing cancer center, this role offers a highly collaborative team environment, integrated clinical workflows, and full-service logistical support.

• Clinical Caseload & Specialty Split: This assignment features a unique clinical breakdown, heavily emphasizing hematologic care alongside standard oncology management:

  • 65% Benign Hematology

  • 35% Malignant Oncology

  • 0% Internal Medicine

• Work Environment & Core Duties: Provide comprehensive continuity across both inpatient and outpatient settings. Core daily responsibilities include:

  • Direct outpatient clinic management and inpatient hospital rounding/consultations.

  • Ordering and interpreting specialized laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging.

  • Prescribing targeted treatments and managing bone marrow transplant patients.

  • Collaborating with the blood bank and actively participating in institutional Tumor Boards.

  • Note: Chemotherapy administration is fully handled by dedicated, specialized Oncology Nurses.

• Expected Daily Volume:

  • Outpatient Clinic: Average of 25 patients per day (minimum threshold of 12+ patients per day required by the facility).

  • Inpatient Rounding/Call: Average of 20 patients per day.

• Robust Team Support: Work alongside an expansive, expert clinical team consisting of seven (7) staff physicians and six (6) Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

• Logistics & Scheduling:

  • Standard Clinic Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM 4:30 PM.

  • Rotational Call: General call schedule runs 1 week out of every 6 to 8 weeks. Weekend call rotation runs Friday (4:30 PM) to Monday (8:00 AM) every 5th or 6th weekend.

• Centralized Technology: Utilize a fully integrated Epic EMR system spanning both the hospital and the free-standing cancer center for streamlined charting, ordering, and documentation.

• Assignment Timeline: Ideal start date is July 1st for an initial 6-month term, with guaranteed extension beyond December 2026.

• Full Cost Reimbursement: The facility fully covers and reimburses all travel logistics, including flights, hotel accommodations, rental cars, and business mileage billed directly at the standard IRS rate.

• Onboarding Timeline: Estimated credentialing window is 60 days. Emergency temporary privileges are available for candidates with completely clean backgrounds.

To be considered for an immediate presentation to the medical director, candidates must strictly fulfill the following criteria:

• Board Status: Strict Board Certification in Hematology and Oncology is required.

• Licensure & Credentials: Must hold an active, unencumbered South Carolina state medical license, an active DEA, and current BLS certification.

• Availability: Candidates must explicitly disclose their ability to provide a minimum of 2 weeks of coverage per month.

• Compliance Documentation: A clean background is required for expedited emergency privileging. Candidates must provide a Self-Query NPDB report pulled within the last 30 days at the time of initial presentation.
