Job description

Cardiothoracic Surgery locums coverage is needed in Texas at a Level 1 trauma center, covering inpatient consults, rounds, and emergent cardiothoracic surgical services with an established 7 on, 7 off rotation.

Practice Setting

  • Inpatient adult cardiothoracic surgery service
  • Daily rounds plus consult coverage, typical service 6 to 7 patients
  • Emergency cardiothoracic surgical coverage tied to trauma call needs
  • EPIC for documentation

Schedule

  • Monday through Sunday coverage in 7 day blocks
  • 7 days on, 7 days off rotation
  • Call includes trauma call coverage and emergent cardiothoracic surgical services as assigned
  • Scheduled hours are to be confirmed during scheduling

Cases and Procedures

  • Coronary artery bypass grafting and valve repair or replacement
  • Aortic surgery, including management of aortic dissection
  • Robotic assisted lung surgery, lobectomy, segmentectomy, decortication
  • Esophageal and mediastinal procedures

Requirements

  • Must be an MD or DO
  • Texas medical license required
  • Board Certified in Cardiovascular or Thoracic Surgery CAQ, or Board Eligible within 5 years
  • Credentialing requires 3 references with direct observation within the past 2 years
