Practice Setting
- Inpatient adult cardiothoracic surgery service
- Daily rounds plus consult coverage, typical service 6 to 7 patients
- Emergency cardiothoracic surgical coverage tied to trauma call needs
- EPIC for documentation
Schedule
- Monday through Sunday coverage in 7 day blocks
- 7 days on, 7 days off rotation
- Call includes trauma call coverage and emergent cardiothoracic surgical services as assigned
- Scheduled hours are to be confirmed during scheduling
Cases and Procedures
- Coronary artery bypass grafting and valve repair or replacement
- Aortic surgery, including management of aortic dissection
- Robotic assisted lung surgery, lobectomy, segmentectomy, decortication
- Esophageal and mediastinal procedures
Requirements
- Must be an MD or DO
- Texas medical license required
- Board Certified in Cardiovascular or Thoracic Surgery CAQ, or Board Eligible within 5 years
- Credentialing requires 3 references with direct observation within the past 2 years
