Milford, Connecticut, United States

Job description

Job Description Job Description

Job Summary

We're hiring experienced Senior CNC Machinists to join a well-established precision machine shop serving the aerospace, defense, medical, and semiconductor industries. Whether you are a dedicated CNC Mill specialist, a CNC Lathe specialist, or a versatile machinist who can expertly run both, we want you on our team!

We are looking for skilled machinists who can independently own the entire setup process-from interpreting blueprints and selecting tooling to proving out the first part and making offsets before releasing a job into production. You will be working equipment ranging from 2 and 3-axis lathes to 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, holding extremely tight tolerances on primarily stainless steel and aluminum components.

Why Join Us?

  • Exciting Growth Phase: We are under new management and are now part of an aerospace and defense-focused startup making serious investments in people and technology.
  • Career Impact: This is a unique chance to grow and help build something that is going to make a major name for itself in the defense and aerospace industry.

Compensation

  • $35 - $42 / hr based on experience
  • Unlimited optional overtime available - opportunity to make $100k+ / yr
  • Double-time pay on Sundays

First Shift

  • 1st Shift: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Monday - Friday

Responsibilities

  • Setup & Operation: Perform complete, independent setups and operate 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC mills AND/OR 2-axis and 3-axis CNC horizontal lathes.
  • Process Ownership: Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T, and manufacturing work instructions to take a job from setup through production with minimal supervision.
  • Tooling & Offsets: Select tooling, establish work and tool offsets, load offsets, and completely prepare machines for production.
  • Programming & Troubleshooting: Utilize G-code fluency and Fanuc controls to troubleshoot machining issues independently, making machine-side program adjustments and offset corrections as needed.
  • Precision Inspection: Prove out first articles, perform in-process production verification, and verify dimensions using manual precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges).
  • Quality & Maintenance: Maintain tight aerospace tolerances on high-precision components while keeping a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Experience: 3+ years of CNC setup experience on Mills (3, 4, or 5-axis) AND/OR Lathes (2 or 3-axis).
  • Setups: Proven ability to independently own the setup process and run production without direct supervision.
  • Technical: Strong blueprint reading skills and a deep understanding of GD&T and complex work instructions.
  • Programming: High level of fluency in G-code and hands-on experience with Fanuc controls and machine-side program edits.
  • Precision: Proven ability to hold incredibly tight tolerances.
  • Metrology: Strong understanding of precision measurement, with proficiency using traditional manual inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.), not just digital gauges.

Preferred

  • Industry: Prior experience machining aerospace, defense, medical, or semiconductor components.
  • Equipment: Experience with Hardinge, Doosan, Swiss-style, or similar CNC lathes.
  • Versatility: Dual capability on both CNC milling and turning centers is a massive plus.
