Position: Litigation Legal Assistant/ Paralegal
Matthews & Matthews, LLP is a well-established law firm serving clients throughout Florida's beautiful Emerald Coast. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team in our Destin office.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in staying organized, and is committed to providing exceptional service to both attorneys and clients.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, edit, proofread, and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, notices, discovery requests, and correspondence.
- Maintain and organize electronic and physical case files.
- Manage attorney calendars, schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, meetings, and deadlines.
- Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, clients, experts, and vendors.
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding case status, appointments, and requested documentation.
- Utilize the firm's case management system (ProLaw) to manage files, deadlines, contacts, and case activity.
- Monitor case deadlines and ensure timely filings and follow-up.
- Assist with client intake and document collection.
- Conduct legal research as requested.
- Assist attorneys in preparation for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial.
- E-file documents with Florida state and federal courts.
- Maintain accurate billing entries and time records when appropriate.
- Perform other administrative and litigation support duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in litigation.
- Experience using case management software (ProLaw experience is preferred but not required).
- Working knowledge of Florida court procedures and legal terminology.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat).
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
- Professional demeanor and excellent client service skills.
- Paralegal Certificate preferred.

Schedule:
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- 8am - 5pm
- In-person (Destin, Florida)
