Low Voltage Journeyman Electrician - Senior Living Facility Project

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Journeyman Electrician to join our team on a senior living facility construction project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing low voltage systems that support life safety, security, communications, and building operations throughout the facility. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to ensure systems are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and code requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and terminate low voltage cabling for systems including fire alarm, access control, CCTV, nurse call, data/telecommunications, audio/visual, and building automation systems.
• Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications, and project documents.
• Perform device installation, cable routing, conduit work, and equipment mounting in accordance with NEC and local codes.
• Test, troubleshoot, and commission low voltage systems to verify proper operation.
• Coordinate daily activities with supervisors, project managers, and other trades on the jobsite.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installations, testing results, and service work.
• Identify and resolve installation issues while maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Mentor apprentices and less-experienced technicians as needed.
• Support project closeout activities, including punch list completion and system turnover.

Qualifications

• Journeyman Electrician license required (state-specific license as applicable).
• 3+ years of experience installing and servicing low voltage systems in commercial, healthcare, multifamily, or senior living environments.
• Strong knowledge of NEC, low voltage wiring standards, and life safety systems.
• Experience with fire alarm, access control, CCTV, structured cabling, and nurse call systems preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings and technical specifications.
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and cable termination techniques.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an active construction environment.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.

Work Environment

This position is based on a senior living facility construction project and may involve work in occupied or partially occupied areas. The technician must be comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in various indoor construction conditions while maintaining a professional and respectful presence around residents, staff, and visitors.
