- Patient Volume: Approximately 5-8 encounters per shift
- Guaranteed Hours: 8 hours per day
- Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 60 days
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $4,930-$5,280
Physician Assistant Job Requirements
- 1+ year of Physician Assistant (PA) experience required; cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery or inpatient surgical experience preferred
- Active California Physician Assistant license (California PA license) required
- DEA registration required
- Board certification required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Experience with endoscopic and radial artery harvesting, EKG/X-ray/lab interpretation required
- Experience supporting ECMO, IABP, and Impella required
- Clean professional file required, including NPDB, malpractice history, and background check
- Strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability skills
- Comfort working in a clinic-and-call schedule with inpatient responsibilities
Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery Responsibilities
- Round on post-operative inpatients and support daily inpatient management
- First assist in cardiovascular/cardiothoracic surgery procedures
- See patients in clinic and help coordinate postoperative follow-up care
- Interpret EKGs, X-rays, and lab results to support clinical decision-making
- Assist with endoscopic and radial artery harvesting during operative cases
- Support advanced care needs involving ECMO, IABP, and Impella
- Provide responsive weekday and weekend beeper call coverage as scheduled
- Collaborate closely with surgeons and care teams to provide seamless patient care and clinical support across inpatient, clinic, and call settings
