Orthopedics Physician Assistant

Coverage Needed

• Start Date: 08-31-2026
• End Date: 11-30-2026
• Schedule: 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM; typically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights
  • Flexible with occasional day and weekend shifts
• 13 shifts per month

Clinical Details

• EMR System: EPIC
• Practice Settings: Inpatient
• Patients Per Shift: 5-15
• 21% adults, 12% geriatrics, 2% Peds, 65% Medicare/Medicaid
• Evaluates, assesses patient illness/injuries
• Performs physical examinations, and special examinations
• Takes medical histories; develops plans of care; intervenes in crisis situations or patient deterioration
• Provides routine and illness care; orders medications; orders diagnostic tests and evaluates results
• Assumes responsibility for patient follow-up, coordination, and referrals to other health care providers as necessary
• May participate in clinical research
• Provides patient counseling/education
• Participates in medical student and health professional teaching
• Assist with surgeries as first assist

Requirements

• Board: Board Certified NCCPA
• Licensed in: CT
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS
• DEA/CSR
• First Assist experience in the OR
• 2+ years of orthopedic experience
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Connecticut General Statutes (Must obtain prior to start of employment)
