POSITION OVERVIEW A well-established regional healthcare organization is seeking a Board-Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to provide temporary coverage. This opportunity offers a combination of outpatient oncology services, inpatient consultation coverage, and shared call responsibilities within a collaborative multidisciplinary cancer care program. The physician will work alongside experienced specialists, advanced practice providers, and dedicated oncology nursing staff.
PRACTICE DETAILS
• Adult and Geriatric Patient Population
• Approximately 60% Hematology / 40% Oncology
• Outpatient Clinic and Inpatient Consult Services
• Average Outpatient Volume: Patients per Day
• Average Hospital Consults/Rounding: 1 5 Patients per Day
• Support from Advanced Practice Providers
• Dedicated Oncology Support Team
• Participation in Multidisciplinary Tumor Board Meetings
• EPIC Electronic Medical Record System
• Community-Based Acute Care Hospital Setting
SCHEDULE • Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
• 8:30 AM 5:00 PM
• Shared Call Rotation: 1:3
• Weeknight and Weekend Call Coverage
• 3 4 Month Assignment with Potential Extension
RESPONSIBILITIES • Evaluate and manage hematology and oncology patients in outpatient and inpatient settings
• Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic imaging
• Develop and manage treatment plans
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board discussions
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and advanced practice providers
• Prescribe medications and supportive therapies
• Provide hospital call coverage as assigned
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the EMR
QUALIFICATIONS • MD or DO Degree
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology & Oncology
• Active Connecticut Medical License or Eligibility to Obtain
• Current BLS Certification
• Current NPDB Self-Query Report Preferred
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills
