Hematology/Oncology Physician Job Details
  • Location: Las Cruces, New Mexico
  • Setting: On-site outpatient hematology/oncology practice within an accredited cancer center
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
  • Shifts per Week: 5 clinic days per week
  • Shift Duration: Standard daytime clinic hours, plus shared 24-hour weekend call and occasional weekday night call
  • Duration: 13-week coverage blocks with ongoing dates available
  • Start: ASAP, with an estimated credentialing timeline of about 60 days
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $9,030-$10,690
  • Patient Volume: Approximately 17 patient encounters per shift
  • Visit Structure: 1 hour for new patients; 20 minutes for follow-ups
  • Team: A medical assistant, several RNs, and dedicated pharmacists who support chemotherapy education and starts
  • Resources: 18-bed chemo suite, co-located with radiation oncology, weekly tumor boards, and access to Phase II and III clinical trials
  • EMR: MOSAIQ
Hematology/Oncology Physician Job Requirements
  • MD or DO, board certified or board eligible in Hematology/Oncology
  • At least 1 year of post-training hematology/oncology or medical oncology experience required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Comfortable managing outpatient hematology/oncology patients, follow-ups, and shared call coverage
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and patient-centered care skills
Hematology/Oncology Physician Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient hematology/oncology and medical oncology care for new and established patients
  • Manage shared call coverage, including RN questions, same-day chemotherapy concerns, and minimal ED consults
  • Review treatment plans, coordinate chemotherapy starts, and support follow-up care
  • Collaborate with medical assistants, RNs, pharmacists, radiation oncology, and the broader care team
  • Participate in weekly tumor boards and contribute to evidence-based, multidisciplinary cancer care
  • Document care and maintain an efficient workflow in MOSAIQ
