  • Bachelor's preferred, Paralegal Certificate considered
  • US work authorization (Required)

  • Prior paralegal work in Family, Estate Planning and/or Probate required. Preference given to a candidate that has three (3) or more years experience in the family law arena.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Our firm is growing! We are looking to add an additional paralegal to our family law, estate and civil paralegal team.

We are a family focused mid size law firm located in Chesterfield Virginia. As a Paralegal, you will assist and support highly productive and engaged attorneys in their high volume family, estate, probate and civil arenas.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Type, proofread, run comparisons, and edit correspondence, memoranda, agreements and other legal documents from notes, templates, drafts, or dictated text under time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Drafting as requested by attorney including subpoenas, notices, estate-related paperwork;
  • Coordinating with financial institutions and beneficiaries to collect and distribute assets as requested by attorney;
  • Coordinating with the court and Commissioner of Accounts for probate administration as requested by attorney;
  • Assist with discovery responses;
  • Preparing trial documents, exhibits, witness binders/files and labeling documents;
  • Perform pdf scanning of documents, court e-filings and electronic pleading clips as required;
  • Answer, screen, and respond to phone calls and take messages for attorneys;
  • Data entry of case information into firm database;
  • Maintain excellent public relations with clients; and
  • Other duties as requested by attorneys in the firm.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university or Paralegal certificate. Proven ability to manage caseloads while providing excellent customer care. Proficiency with case management software, Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint required. Highly self-motivated and willing to take initiative. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills. Superior time management skills. Prior family law experience preferred.
