IDAK Communications is currently seeking Highly Skilled, Level IV DC Power / Battery Plant Installation Technicians with experience in AT&T, CenturyLink/Lumen, Verizon, Sprint, and Motorola environments.
This is hands-on work that matters. When you install DC power and battery plants for telecom networks, you're building the backbone everyone depends on and no one sees. We hold a high standard because critical power leaves no room for "close enough"-if you take pride in doing it right the first time, you'll fit here.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to follow published standards and safety procedures
- Adhere to all safety policies and provide a safe work environment
- High school diploma or GED; technical degree preferred
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand spoken English
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in the DC power field
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, OneNote)
- Knowledge of DC power systems and controllers (Eltek, ABB, Alpha, and Vertiv)
- Ability to program and configure DC plant controllers
- Ability to perform new DC plant installations and additions to existing DC plants
- Ability to perform additions, removals, connections, and modifications on live equipment and live circuits
- Ability to read drawings and install ironwork infrastructure
- Ability to install grounding systems and crimp lugs
- Ability to remove and install battery strings
- Ability to use a digital voltmeter, AMP clamp meter, and Midtronics test sets
- Knowledge of GR-1275 and other customer standards
- Ability to write MOPs
- Ability to work well with others and communicate effectively and professionally-both written and verbal-with onsite customers

Level IV Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with minimum supervision
- Perform circuit modifications
- Perform software upgrades
- Complete power transition work on live systems
- Add or remove batteries
- Equipment test and turn-up / commissioning
- Oversee volatile work activities, including hot cuts of battery and charging systems, and program various types of DC plant controllers
- Additions, modifications, or removal of DC power systems
- Additions, modifications, or removal of BDFBs
- Measure and mark floor from floor plan drawings
- Position and assemble ironwork and cable rack
Job Requirements
- Meet or exceed customer and internal documented acceptable levels of quality
- Adaptable to changing environments, schedules, or project requirements
- Lift up to 75 lbs
- Stand for long periods while performing tasks
- Sit for long periods while performing tasks
- Climb and work off a ladder up to 12', not exceeding the ladder's weight restrictions
- Work under raised floors
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferably a truck or van to haul tools and extra materials) to the job site, with valid insurance
- Provide your own basic hand tools
- Pass a drug screening and criminal background check
- This position requires 100% travel. Ability to travel 2-3 weeks or more if needed, depending on location. Able to work varying schedules-days, evenings, nights (approved maintenance-window work), weekends, and holidays
