The day-to-day responsibilities and requirements for this role generally include the following:
Core Responsibilities
- Fabrication: Construct weldments and assemblies for custom overhead cranes, working directly with the production manager.
- Material Preparation: Use equipment to clean, prepare, cut, and fit components before welding.
- Blueprint Reading: Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to build cranes to exact specifications.
- Material Handling: Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move heavy materials around the shop floor.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA and internal safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in a fast-paced welding and fabricating environment.
- Welding Techniques: Proficiency in gas shielded flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) is required, while Sub-Arc welding experience is preferred.
- Cutting: Familiarity with Oxy/Acetylene cutting torches.
- Testing: Ability to pass an in-house fillet weld test during the interview process.
