The Vessel Welder position is responsible for welding vessels with stick, mig, flux core and sub arc processes.
Essential Functions:
- Follow all work instructions given by the Production Supervisor and/or QC Inspector
- Making welds that pass visual inspection, x-ray or other nondestructive testing that is required
- Making sure the material is square and level when welding and before the vessel is moved from rolls from completion
- Perform all work in a safe manner in accordance to Cortex safety policies and procedures
- Actively promote and personally observe all company policies, employee handbook, safety and security procedures
- Comply with company work schedule, including but not limited to overtime, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to pass welding test per ASME code requirements
- Ability to operate overhead crane
- Ability to use critical thinking to solve problems
- Ability to read and understand fabrication drawings
- Ability to work well with others
- Basic math
Preferred Qualifications:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent
- 2-5 years of welding experience
- Vessel welding/fitting experience
- At least one year of experience in a manufacturing or similar work environment
