ATC West Healthcare is expanding its locum Interventional Cardiology coverage pool due to a potential departure of its affiliated cardiology group. This inpatient and call-based opportunity offers a collaborative environment with existing interventional cardiology teams, manageable STEMI volumes, and emergency or temporary privileges available for expedited onboarding.

Coverage Setting: Inpatient and Call
Schedule:
- Onsite Coverage (Weekdays): Monday Friday, 7:00 AM 5:00 PM
- Weeknight Call: Monday Friday, 5:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Weekend Call: Saturday 7:00 AM Monday 7:00 AM
Call Expectations:
- STEMI call aligned with unassigned call and noninvasive coverage
- More phone consults than in-person callbacks
- STEMI emergencies occur less than every other day
- 159 STEMI activations in 2025, with a 47% cancellation rate
- Potential rounding responsibilities
- Call ratio: 9 VCS to 7 RHV (subject to change)
Credentialing:
- Emergency or temporary privileges available
Job Details & Responsibilities
Facility Information:
- 250 total hospital beds
- 30 ICU beds
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- EMR: Epic
- No trauma designation
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide inpatient interventional cardiology coverage
- Manage STEMI activations and emergent cardiovascular cases
- Participate in call coverage and potential inpatient rounding
- Collaborate with existing interventional cardiology teams
- No supervision of other healthcare providers required
Cardiology Team Structure:
- VCS: 18 Interventional Cardiologists ( 4 regularly cover MRMC)
- RHV: 5 Interventional Cardiologists
- Additional interventional cardiologists will be present during locum coverage
Required Procedures:
- Balloon angioplasty
- Coronary angioplasty
- Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
- Cardiac catheterization
- Coronary angiograms
- Medical management of vascular disease
- Embolic protection procedures
- Carotid artery stenting
- Atherectomy
Required Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Board Certified in Interventional Cardiology
- Active Virginia medical license
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Clean malpractice history
- NPDB self-query report completed within 30 days of presentation

- Average inpatient admissions: More than 2 per physician daily
