Job Details & Responsibilities
Facility Setting:
- Hospital-based practice with a dedicated Family Birthing Center (Labor & Delivery)
- Dedicated operating room for C-sections
- EMR: Cerner
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Labor and delivery coverage
- Perform vaginal deliveries
- Perform C-sections
- OB/GYN emergency department call coverage
- Complete a full range of OB/GYN procedures (specific privileges determined during credentialing)
Patient Volume:
- Approximately deliveries per month (average )
Support Staff Available:
- On-call anesthesiologist
- General surgeons
- Three local OB/GYN physicians
- One Family Medicine OB physician
- On-call pediatrician
- Experienced respiratory therapists
Proctoring Requirements:
- Observation of first two non-emergency deliveries (one must be a C-section if applicable)
- Observation of first three gynecologic procedures:
- One hysteroscopy
- One operative laparoscopy
- One open laparotomy
- Three months of retrospective review required
Required Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- Board Certified OB/GYN or Board Eligible within 5 years
- Active California medical license
- DEA certification (required during credentialing)
- Availability provided at time of name clear
- NPDB self-query completed within 30 days of presentation
Credentialing Requirements:
Must meet one of the following:
- Current certification or active participation toward certification through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) or American Osteopathic Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (AOBOG), or
- Successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited OB/GYN residency
Additional Experience Requirements:
- Documentation of at least 100 gynecologic surgical procedures within the past two years or completion of a hospital-affiliated residency or fellowship demonstrating competency
Preferred:
- Clean malpractice history
- Recent procedural logs or residency/fellowship case logs available for credentialing submission
