PROMINENT law firm seeks a highly experienced commercial real estate and environmental attorney to join as either Partner or Senior Counsel within our Environmental and Commercial Real Estate Practice Groups. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience leading permitting and entitlements for complex development projects, with strong expertise in environmental law and regulatory compliance for large-scale developments. This role offers a hybrid work environment with multiple office locations across New York in Manhattan, Westchester, Long Island, Albany, Buffalo, Ithaca, Rochester, and Syracuse.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of U.S. environmental law experience, particularly in permitting and regulatory compliance for large development projects
- Commercial real estate experience is a huge plus but not required
- Admission to the New York bar or ability to waive in
- CT Admission a plus
- Demonstrated experience managing regulatory agency relations and project teams
- Strong knowledge of NEPA, CEQA, CERCLA, RCRA, UIC, ESA, SEQRA, and related permitting regulations
- Ability to analyze complex environmental and technical data
- Portable book of business
- Strong understanding of environmental risk, permitting strategies, and legal frameworks affecting project development and finance
- Experience supporting energy, infrastructure, industrial, or municipal projects from planning through implementation
- Familiarity with carbon-related regulatory frameworks and environmental considerations in large infrastructure projects (domestic or international)
- Corporate experience a plus
