Position Overview: The Litigation Paralegal provides comprehensive litigation support to attorneys across all phases of state and federal commercial litigation. This position requires strong organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage tasks and deadlines. The ideal candidate is proactive, technologically proficient, and able to anticipate attorney needs while maintaining excellent communication and workflow coordination in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Organization

  • Assist attorneys in managing active litigation files, including both state and federal commercial cases.
  • Maintain case calendars, deadlines, and task lists using case management software.
  • Organize and index case materials, exhibits, and evidence for depositions, hearings, and trials.
  • Prepare and update case status reports and trial binders.
  • Assist supervising attorneys with case planning and legal research, and help organize case facts, claims, defenses, and legal issues to support case strategy under attorney direction.
  • Conduct regular status reviews and help ensure timely progression of assigned cases.

Pleadings, Motions & Court Filings

  • Draft, revise, proofread, and cite-check petitions, complaints, answers, motions, and other pleadings under attorney supervision.
  • Prepare materials in support of dispositive motions, discovery motions, and hearings.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare supporting memoranda as directed.
  • Prepare exhibits, affidavits, and supporting materials for court filings.
  • File documents electronically in state and federal courts using e-filing systems.
  • Monitor docket updates, court orders, and hearing settings, ensuring attorneys remain informed.

Discovery & Document Production

  • Draft and prepare discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions, under attorney supervision.
  • Review, organize, and summarize discovery materials, deposition transcripts, and evidence.
  • Coordinate and manage document production with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Track discovery deadlines and follow up on deficiencies and outstanding items.
  • Work directly with clients to assist in gathering responsive documents and preparing discovery responses.

Client, Witness & Expert Coordination

  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to schedule meetings, depositions, and mediations.
  • Prepare subpoenas, deposition summaries, and witness lists.
  • Coordinate logistics for depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.

Trial Preparation & Support

  • Organize trial exhibits, witness files, and demonstrative evidence.
  • Prepare trial notebooks, exhibit lists, witness lists, proposed jury instructions, and other pretrial filings.
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys on trial planning and pretrial logistics.
  • Provide on-site trial support as needed, including managing exhibits and coordinating witness attendance.

Administrative & Billing

  • Maintain accurate and detailed billable time entries.
  • Assist with client billing documentation and expense reporting.
  • Support firm administrative processes and contribute to workflow efficiency initiatives.

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and administrative staff to maintain an efficient workflow.
  • Track all deadlines, hearings, and tasks in the firm's case management system.
  • Participate in remote team meetings, strategy sessions, and case reviews.
