Welder / Assembler - Oconto Falls, Wisconsin
Opening for a permanent, full-time Welder / Assembler to support production of mechanical power transmission components at our facility in Oconto Falls, Wisconsin. This role involves fixturing, preparation, welding, straightening, balancing, and assembly/disassembly of components and assemblies. Must have (3) years of welding experience and be capable of reading prints and ensuring weld quality and dimensional integrity.
Job Duties:
- Plan welding and assembly operations by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, materials, and specifications.
- Set up and prepare components for welding, including fixturing and alignment to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Perform light machining operations (turning, grinding, drilling, prep work) to prepare parts for welding and assembly.
- Execute MIG and Submerged Arc (Sub-Arc) welding operations.
- Monitor weld quality and adjust parameters to meet specifications.
- Perform straightening and distortion correction after welding.
- Conduct balancing of rotating assemblies as required.
- Perform assembly and disassembly of mechanical components and subassemblies.
- Inspect welds and finished assemblies to verify quality and tolerances.
- Troubleshoot welding defects such as distortion, porosity, and lack of fusion.
- Safely operate material handling equipment.
- Maintain safe working conditions and follow all safety procedures.
- Perform minor equipment maintenance and report issues.
- Maintain continuity between shifts through documentation.
- Complete production logs and quality records.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
Skills & Qualification Requirements:
- Welding experience (MIG and Sub-Arc preferred)
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Familiarity with fixturing and alignment
- Experience with fabrication, assembly, and disassembly
- Knowledge of weld distortion control
- Basic machining skills
- Mechanical aptitude
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
