Job description

Duties include: Review quality control data using Agilent TapeStation and Qubit Fluorometer, and provide feedback; Perform DNA and RNA extraction from a variety of sample types using standard and custom protocols; Perform standard and custom library preparation in Research Use Only (RUO) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) environment; Conduct sequencing procedures including qPCR, multiplexing, and sequencing run loading using Illumina MiSeq, Novaseq series and PacBio platforms for RUO and CLIA projects; Monitor run performance, perform routine maintenance of equipment, and communicate with external vendors; Perform Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) lab duties including preparing library preparation reaction sheets and reagents for RUO lab and CLIA lab; Assist with creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Research Use Only (RUO) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) workflows; Conduct troubleshooting including analyzing problems, recommending solutions, and communicating results to internal/external teams and management; Provide training and technical support to team members to ensure timely and effective completion of projects; and Maintain safe workplace in accordance with company and OSHA policies/procedures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: A bachelors degree (U.S. or foreign degree equivalent) in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, or closely related life sciences field. Experience: Four years of experience performing laboratory assays and protocols in a Research Use Only (RUO) environment. SKILLS/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience must include the following, which may be gained concurrently: 1. 3 years of Quality Control experience using Agilent TapeStation, Qubit Fluorometer, TECAN, Fragment Analyzer, NanoDrop spectrophotomer and Gel electrophoresis. 2. 2 years of experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting liquid handling automation instruments including Biomek FX/NX, Dragonfly, CWASH, Mantis and FAST. 3. 2 years of experience performing, optimizing, and troubleshooting library preparations in RUO environment including NEB DNA prep, NEBNext Ultra II RNA library prep, NEBNext Ultra II Directional, Nextera XT DNA, Truseq DNA PCR-Free, Truseq stranded total RNA and mRNA, SmartSeq HT Ultra-low, Swift 1S DNA prep, and Agilent SureSelect XT. 4. 2 years of experience working with high molecular weight (HMW) gDNA samples including quality assessment using PacBio quality control. 5. 1 year of experience performing, optimizing, and troubleshooting library preparations in RUO environment including NEBNext Small RNA, and Twist library preparation. 6. 1 year of experience using molecular principles and technologies to optimize and streamline workflows. 7. 1 year of experience using 10x Single Cell and ATAC-seq techniques to analyze cells and genes. 8. 1 year of experience performing NGS lab maintenance tasks including thawing and organizing -20C lab freezers and 4C lab refrigerators. Basic pay is seventy-four thousand eight hundred thirty-eight dollars to ninety-one thousand dollars annually for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
