JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Emergency Medicine Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Macon, Georgia Coverage Period: Aug 01, 2026 Aug 08, 2026 Shift Schedule: Variable Shifts Reason for Coverage: Coverage Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered PATIENT INFORMATION Average Daily Volume: Approx. 110 patients per day (40,000 annual visits) Case Mix: Standard Emergency Medicine case mix (medical, surgical, trauma) Rounding: Not Included FACILITY INFORMATION No. of Beds in Department: 30 ED Beds EMR System: Epic with Dragon and DAX Specialty Backup Available: Yes, broad specialty backup available Support Staff Available: RNs, APPs (NP/PA coverage 24 hours daily) PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 90-120 days (temps considered after CVO clearance) Temporary Privileges Available: Yes, after CVO clearance and CC meeting review JOB REQUIREMENTS Board: ABMS/AOA Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (if BE, must obtain within 5 years of training) Licenses: Active, unrestricted Georgia medical license; DEA with Georgia address DEA / CDS: Active DEA with Georgia address required Certifications: ACLS, PALS required; ATLS required unless ABEM certified Experience: Residency trained in Emergency Medicine at ACGME-accredited program; recent clinical activity (case logs for past 2 years) Other Qualifications: TB and Flu immunizations (flu during season); CME 20 hours per year with 2-year summary; NPPA supervision required DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide emergency medical evaluation and treatment for patients across all acuity levels in a 30-bed ED Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants during their shifts Utilize Epic EMR with Dragon and DAX for documentation and order entry Coordinate patient admissions, transfers, and specialist consultations as needed Maintain accurate clinical activity logs and fulfill CME requirements (20 hrs/year)
