JOB OVERVIEW Profession: Physician Specialty: Critical Care Pediatric Job Type: Locum Tenens Location: Columbia, SC Service Setting: Inpatient Coverage Type: Clinical + Call Coverage Period: Aug 24, 2026 Nov 23, 2026 Clinical Shift Schedule: Sat Sun, 7a 7a (24hr on-campus) Call Type: In-House Call Ratio: Weekends only Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered (Airfare, rental car or mileage, housing provided onsite in on-call room) PATIENT INFORMATION Patient Demographics: Pediatrics Patient Volume/Census: 11 Rounding: Rounds with 2-3 peds/ED residents Case Mix: Medical, Surgical, Neuro, Cardiac/Respiratory Arrest, Sepsis, Renal Failure, Poisoning, Traumatic Injuries FACILITY INFORMATION EMR System: Epic Specialty Backup Available: Radiology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Urology, Hem/Onc, Psychiatry Reason for Coverage: Supplemental Coverage PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE Hospital Privileges Required: Yes Credentialing Timeline: 60-90 days REQUIRED PROCEDURES Vent Management Chest Tube Insertion Central & Arterial Lines Transfusions ICP Evaluation Hemodialysis Diagnostic Taps Ultrasound POC JOB REQUIREMENTS Licenses: Active SC License Board: BC in Critical Care DEA: Yes Certifications: PALS, ACLS, BLS Experience: Minimum 1 year Other Qualifications: Clean background ONLY; Must be out of training and practicing for at least 2 years DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide 24-hour on-campus call coverage on weekends (Sat 7a Mon 7a) Round with 2-3 pediatric/ED residents and supervise overnight call with 1 resident Manage medical conditions including cardiac/respiratory arrest, sepsis, renal failure, and poisoning Provide pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients Treat traumatic injuries such as blunt force/penetrating injuries, fractures, and dislocations
