Locums - St. Johns, Michigan Emergency Medicine Opportunity
Clinical Role
Join a collaborative Emergency Medicine team at a Level IV trauma center providing comprehensive emergency care in a community hospital setting. This ongoing locums opportunity offers flexible day and night shifts with strong specialty support and the opportunity to supervise Advanced Practice Providers during overlapping coverage.

- July 25: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

- September: Approximately 8 shifts anticipated (primarily night shifts)

Schedule & Coverage
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
- Majority of remaining coverage consists of night shifts
Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Setting: Emergency Department
Facility Information:
- Annual ED volume: Approximately 13,800 visits
- Average daily volume: 32-50 patients
- 10 emergency department beds
- Level IV Trauma Center
- No Fast Track
- Approximately 55% of hospital admissions originate from the Emergency Department
- Approximately 6.4% admission rate
- Fewer than 7 patient transfers per 24-hour period
Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluate and treat patients presenting with a broad range of emergency conditions
- Perform emergency procedures as clinically indicated
- Respond to hospital codes as needed
- Interpret EKGs (final interpretation provided by Cardiology)
- Supervise Advanced Practice Providers during overlapping coverage
- Collaborate with admitting physicians, consultants, and hospital staff
- Stabilize obstetrical patients prior to transfer when necessary
Support & Technology
- EMR: Epic
- One Advanced Practice Provider scheduled daily from 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
- Locum physicians supervise APPs during overlapping shifts

Requirements
- Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM) - Required
- Active full Michigan medical license at the time of name clear - Required
- Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) and Compact Licenses are not accepted
- ACLS certification - Required
- ATLS certification - Required
- Ability to supervise Advanced Practice Providers - Required
- Experience practicing in a community Emergency Department setting - Required
